Meet Dr. Tom Silva

Dr Tom Silva is an Australian-trained doctor with extensive clinical experience and a dedicated focus on safe, effective intravenous therapies, including Iron IV treatments. After completing comprehensive intern and residency training at Flinders Medical Centre in Adelaide, he spent over a decade working across major surgical and medical specialties in leading hospitals throughout Australia. This broad foundation in general and procedural medicine supports his commitment to precision and patient safety in infusion therapies.

As the Director of the Iron Infusion Clinic and Kangaroo Point Medical Centre, an affiliate teaching centre of the University of Queensland (UQ), Dr Silva is actively involved in research, training future doctors and advancing clinical practice. His career includes specialist registrar roles in emergency medicine at Flinders Medical Centre, orthopaedics at Gold Coast University Hospital and oncology at Princess Alexandra Hospital, alongside additional clinical experience in regional settings such as Lismore Base Hospital.

Dr Silva combines his strong hospital training with specialised expertise in intravenous treatments like Iron IV infusions, ensuring patients receive adequate & personalised care tailored to their iron deficiency needs. His focus on evidence-based practice and procedural excellence makes him a trusted provider of high-quality Iron IV therapy.

Isabella Placido Astorino

Isabella Placido Astorino is a Registered Nurse with a strong clinical foundation and specialised expertise in infusion therapy, particularly Iron IV treatments. She has completed focused training in Iron Infusion and excels in venepuncture, IV cannulation and ultrasound-guided cannulation, ensuring that every Iron IV session is delivered with precision, comfort and safety. Isabella’s skill set enhances patient confidence and contributes to positive treatment experiences.

Within the clinic, Isabella is a key member of the infusion team, providing seamless coordination and attentive support during Iron IV therapy sessions. Her calm, reassuring manner and clinical competence play an important role in creating a high-quality, patient-focused infusion environment.

Before joining the team in Australia, Isabella gained valuable experience in a high-acuity Organ Transplant Unit in Brazil, where she developed advanced skills in perioperative care, patient monitoring and compassionate communication. She is currently completing a Graduate Diploma in Public Health and remains committed to delivering personalised, high-quality care while ensuring each individual feels supported and informed throughout their Iron IV treatment journey.
